Sports

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with the Active Communities Network1 and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation2.

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) is accredited at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning provides your learners with the confidence to make informed decisions about vocational and career progression routes. This qualification supersedes the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Industry and Organisational Awareness for the Active Leisure and Learning Industry, and provides learners with an appropriate depth of knowledge about:

  • employment rights and responsibilities
  • the active leisure and learning sector
  • the employing organisation.

The qualification fits into existing apprenticeship schemes as the Employee Rights and Responsibilities component of all Intermediate Apprenticeships in the active leisure and learning sector, ensuring a healthy demand, but can also be delivered as a stand-alone qualification outside an apprenticeship.

The 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (L2NCSS) gives stewards the flexibility to work at any type of live event meeting the minimum requirements for stewards’ competence for employment, as detailed in the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide).

The qualification provides a work-based assessment of the knowledge and competence of a steward and is ideally suited to those who are already carrying out the role and wish to match their current skills and knowledge to a recognised standard.

Learners completing this qualification will be provided with the knowledge and skills enabling them to:

  • prepare for spectator events
  • control the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events
  • monitor spectators and deal with crowd problems
  • contribute to the work of the team
  • help to manage conflict
  • deal with accidents and emergencies

The 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership has been specifically designed for employers whose staff are not qualified PE teachers, however are contracted by primary schools to deliver PE, coaching and school sport.

It is particularly suited to young adults aged 16-23 years old looking to develop a career in activity leadership or sports coaching and physical education and could also lead to the following career paths:

  • Sports coach, volunteer or leader
  • Teaching assistant (TA)
  • Sports development officer

The qualification is perfect for those who have a passion for sport and coaching young people and will provide the opportunity to hone leadership skills, through successfully learning how to deliver high quality sessions to young people.

The 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Apprenticeship in Sports Development is designed to provide a vocational pathway into the planning, reviewing and delivering of projects within the sports development community.

Training is designed to develop the apprentice’s interaction skills with others and give the knowledge and understanding of everything that is required within a sports development role.

Designed to provide a greater understanding of sports development roles and the environment in which a sports development officer operates, this apprenticeship provides experience in sports development, marketing, health and safety, management and coaching.

Many Level 3 Sports Development apprentices take responsibility for:

  • Managing resources
  • Identifying funding opportunities
  • Monitoring projects
  • Finding, training and managing suitable staff for appropriate community projects

The 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF) has been developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and with the support of Compass – the association of sports and activity providers. It is a competence-based qualification that confirms occupational competency for those operating in a school sport setting and provides an introduction to further opportunities for them to work within physical education and school sport as a:

  • higher level teaching assistant (HLTA)
  • teaching assistant (TA)
  • sports development officer
  • sports coach, volunteer or leader.

The qualification is perfect for those who already work, or aspire to work, in a physical education and school sport setting as it specifically designed to provide them with a greater understanding of programmes of study for physical education, the national curriculum and the environment in which they will be operating.

What’s more, an additional benefit is that completing this qualification can help learners work towards becoming a TA. This is because it can also lead to the achievement of the Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF), which is a qualification that provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for those working directly with children or young people in schools.

The qualification is also the combined knowledge and competence component for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education and School Sport.

The 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF) has been developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and with the support of Compass – the association of sports and activity providers. Customer Service

This Apprenticeship is designed to provide a vocational pathway into the world of customer service.

It is particularly suited to young adults aged 16-23 years old looking to develop a career in customer care, focusing on aspects such as delivering customer service, understanding customers and customer retention, and resolving customer problems. It is the ideal stepping stone to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

As a Level 2 Apprentice, you will be expected to hone your skills by offering advice, answering questions, and dealing with complaints. Typical roles include customer service trainee/representative/agent.

Many Customer Service Apprentices are engaged in retail, financial services, call centres, hospitality or sport and recreation.

This Apprenticeship is designed to provide a vocational pathway into the execution and managing of customer service. It is particularly useful for those who already work, or aspire to work, in a customer service setting.

 

Designed to provide a greater understanding of customer service roles and the environment in which customer service managers operate, this apprenticeship will provide the skills to; communicate effectively with customers, resolve problems, improve customer relations and gather and analyse customer feedback.

 

Level 3 apprentices are expected to develop their skills by managing customer service trainees/agents; helping them to provide appropriate advice, answer questions, and deal with complaints.

Customer service apprentices may be involved in budgeting, planning projects, and coordinating teams, in various sectors, such as retail, financial services, call centres, hospitality and sport and recreation.

Childcare

These qualifications provide in-depth information about the role of the Level 3 playworker when working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16. They provide an understanding of the management of play environments and the line management of other staff.

The Award and Certificate are mainly knowledge based, with a limited amount of practical application. The Diploma covers the knowledge and skills needed when working unsupervised. It is also a must-have for all those undertaking the Level 3 Playwork Apprenticeship.

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision with children and young people from birth to 19 years of age. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s settings including early years and social care.

First Aid Training

Active Education and Training delivers HSE approved First Aid courses, First Aid at Work courses and Paediatric First Aid courses. We also offer AED courses for Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Colleges and Workplaces throughout. All courses can take place at your school/venue.

This approved course is in line with Ofsted and the early year’s statutory framework. It is suitable for childminders, nursery school staff, primary school teachers and anybody who deals with children.

This two day (12 hour) course can be delivered at your venue, by a Paediatric specialist and includes both theory and practical sessions.

We are able to offer the new HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work course. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses.

This course is run over one day (6hrs) and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate’s confidence when dealing with emergency first aid situations.

A full HSE First Aid at Work certificate will enable staff to be used as first aiders in the workplace in accordance with the HSE at work act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit your school, college or workplace. The First Aid at Work is run over 3 days and includes theory and practical sessions.

Certification for all the above courses is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate and there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
